"Is it a solicit or a kidnapping"


 

On wednesday, 16 June 2021, a miraculous case come before Bombay High court, where an advocate named Vimalchandra umeshchandra jha was an accused of kidnapping and torturing of his own client for the sake of case fees. The court had granted bail to the accused on the bail bond of Rs. 1 lakh.

In the order, Justice Sarang V Kotwal had said that there is sufficient doubt about the occurrence  of the incident as narrated in the FIR. He also remarked that there seemed to be "more to the story than what meets the eye."

The FIR against the advocate jha was registered under Section 364A (extortion for ransom), 365 (kidnapping to illegal confine), 387 (fear of death by extortion), 323 (voluntary causing hurt), and 506 (criminal intimidation of the Indian Penal Code.

According to the FIR, Jha kidnapped his client, who had availed Jha's legal services but had not done the full payment of his legal fees.
